Lieutenant Jon Martin
Lt. Jonathan Martin has been a member of the fire service for 19 years, starting as a volunteer firefighter with the Dunn’s Corners Fire Department (DCFD) in Westerly, RI. He joined the Auburn Fire Rescue Department (AFRD) in 2003 as a special call firefighter where he served as a resident at the West Street Station while a WPI student. He was appointed as a full time Firefighter/Paramedic in Auburn in July of 2007 and was assigned to Group 1. He was promoted to Lieutenant of Group 2 in February of 2016.
Lt. Martin is one of the founding members of the District 7 Technical Rescue Team, having served previously as the Training Coordinator and currently as the Assistant Coordinator. He is trained in rope rescue, confined space, trench rescue, tower rescue and structural collapse.
He is a graduate of the Massachusetts Fire Fighting Academy Recruit Class #181, Mass Bay Community College and Worcester Polytechnic Institute where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. He is also a nationally certified Paramedic. Lt. Martin has also achieved the rank of Eagle Scout.
Lt Martin has been recognized as Firefighter of the Year for the AFRD and a Medal of Valor recipient for the DCFD.
