Captain Jeff Mitchell
Captain Mitchell is a 44-year veteran of the Auburn Fire Rescue Department as a call member. He began his fire service career as a member of the Civil Defense Auxiliary in 1974 after working numerous hours at Auburn’s last mill fire on Main Street. He was appointed as a member of the call department in 1978. He was promoted to Lieutenant in 1990. During his time as Lieutenant, he was the most active officer attending the most calls and training sessions and was the department’s driving instructor for new hires. In 1995, he was promoted to Captain. Captain Mitchell was the House Captain for the West Auburn Fire Station 2 for many years, a member of the training division and a member of S.A.T.U.R.N. (Statewide Anti-Terrorism Unified Response Network) that was formed in 2003 by FEMA.
He is a member of the District 7 Regional Dive Team where he serves as a ground crew member; he is also a member of the department’s Color Guard.
